Burning from within

There used to be days when the air was clearer, the water pure and the minds of people filled with much less greed. Is it the pollution ? or is it the advancements we have made as a 'Society' ? no matter what, it will stand no lengthy trial that humanity has regressed in proportion to the receding glaciers.

You see it everywhere - from the local fruit stall where perfect looking oranges drenched in mutation inducing chemicals are peddled without remorse; to the industrialist who pays off the government to ensure that he could pollute and plunder what should host life for generations to come. The major corporations of the world who should also look at contributing back to the society which supports them and the earth which feeds them. For some, CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility is a small corner office whose activities are considered a tolerated menace and at best, a tool for promoting the brand.

Even Medical science, a profession considered most noble is under the scanner now for media reports on unethical pratices meted out to unsuspecting patients - for a few dollars more.

The way media conducts itself of late makes prostitution look good. Paid media is a given and this profession, for which a spine is as essential as the ink they write with, is a hapless shadow of its intended purpose with the media corporations vying for revenue increments and fat bonuses.

Aah fat bonuses - immediately brings one to the arena of big financial institutions. As it is, they do not share a big red hearted enthusiasm for humanity. Their main goal, is as can be easily gussed is to increase the share value of the company.

This cancer is not limited to a few profession/ sectors of business alone, it is prevalent in all forms of life and is fast on its way to becoming a definitive trait of our species. Politics ? Don't get me started..

Those who think they control the world do not realise or turns a blind eye to the fact that the earth, no matter how many shiploads of money one makes to buy off vast tracts of land, belongs to all living things and more importantly, to the beings that are going to exist in the future. That the great leveller calls back the best among us in the end.
